CENTURION, Gauteng – 14 April 2010 – Dark Fibre Africa, in conjunction with Route 21 Corporate Office Park, launches one of the first open access fibre infrastructures in Pretoria.
DFA will be installing a R10 million dark fibre infrastructure into a gated business community. The DFA infrastructure allows all registered service providers the opportunity to provide companies in the R21 Office Park a specialised range of services. “End users can now request a basket of high speed services from their preferred service provider” says Gustav Smit, CEO of DFA.
Route 21 Corporate Park is a R2 billion office park near Irene, Pretoria and offers “unrivalled communications potential for current and future tenants”, said Org Geldenhuys, a trustee of the Route 21 Property Association.
DFA will make use of highly mechanised trenching standards, provided by Muvoni Weltex, to speed up service delivery and make available the infrastructure to ISP’s. The infrastructure is scheduled to be commissioned by April 2010, with “services going live shortly afterwards” says Smit.
Dark Fibre Africa is an “Open Access” infrastructure provider, who provides fibre interconnectivity between ISP’s, operators and their clients. The fibre infrastructure enables high speed multi-service communications and spans over 1000 km in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town.
