CENTURION, Gauteng – 1 July 2016 – Dark Fibre Africa (DFA) has appointed Cilliers Steyn as their new Chief Financial Officer, effective 1 July 2016. Steyn moves to DFA from his position as CEO of Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH), of which DFA is a subsidiary, and will be taking over the reins from Thinus Mulder.
“It’s an exciting time to be officially joining DFA as the growth and adoption in fibre infrastructure deployment and the adoption of fibre connectivity and services is accelerating in South Africa ,” says Steyn. “Our traditional wholesale open access dark fibre footprint and offerings have provided a solid business platform that has enabled DFA to now evolve its product portfolio to meet the needs of current and new market segments in a more relevant manner”. DFA has an excellent management team that works closely together to ensure that the expansion of the client base is mutually beneficial to all the stakeholders. I believe that DFA’s core principle of offering quality service will translate well into the SME space.”
Stepping down from the position of CFO, Thinus Mulder has now taken up the permanent position of Chief Executive Officer of DFA. Together with Steyn and the rest of the leadership team, Mulder will lead the organisation to take advantage of emerging opportunities in the market in line with the organisations strategic direction and plan.
“Cilliers Steyn has a keen understanding of DFA, having been with Community Investment Ventures Holdings, our holding company, for 17 years,” notes Mulder. “This, along with his extensive corporate finance experience and proven leadership skills, will make him an invaluable resource to help take DFA through the next phase of its growth.”
