CENTURION, Gauteng – 1 March 2023 – DFA, a subsidiary of Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH) and an entity within the group’s recently formed infrastructure parent company, Maziv, has announced the appointment of Carel de Nysschen as its new Executive: Network Operations Centre (NOC). Formerly Vodacom’s Business Customer Service Operations Centre Executive Head (CSOC), De Nysschen’s role is pivotal in ensuring that the business maintains a high standard of customer service.
De Nysschen takes the DFA NOC reins at a crucial time for the organisation. However, with over 34 years of experience in the ICT industry, he describes his approach to dealing with industry challenges as calm and assuring.
De Nysschen notes that there are some challenges that are simply a reality in the ICT field. In the telecommunications arena in particular, issues like theft and vandalism are rife across the industry. In fact, according to De Nysschen, the bigger the industry player, the more infrastructure they’ve invested in, and the more challenges they face as a result. He explains that this isn’t new, or unique to our business or any other telecommunications service provider, nor does it come close to being the biggest challenge the industry faces as a whole.
De Nysschen’s confidence is the result of a longstanding career that spans across the local telecoms landscape. Customer experience is a passion of his and he believes he was born to serve.
This includes nearly ten years in the role of Information Technology manager at SITA (State Information Technology Agency), within Infoplan – one of SITA’s merged entities. In his time there, during South Africa’s first free and fair democratic elections, he was instrumental in developing and implementing a mobile office dedicated to helping issue out temporary voter cards to people who did not have IDs across remote areas of the country.
Joining Vodacom in 1998 as Executive Head of Enterprise Support Services Division: IT Group was a logical trajectory in De Nysschen’s ICT career, followed by a move over to Vodacom Business’ Customer Service Operations Centre Division as Executive Head focusing specifically on technology solutions for the business’ in Large, Medium, Public Sector and SMME customer segments in 2011. He received two CEO awards in recognition of service and excellence in his time with the business and joins DFA as a seasoned expert in his field.
De Nysschen’s approach to leading his teams and divisions stems from his unassuming, down-to-earth demeanour, preferring to be in the trenches – working alongside his people – instead of calling orders from a lofty office. His biggest goal is to empower people to feel comfortable enough to speak up and share their ideas, to break down silos, and lead from the back.
The appointment of De Nysschen at DFA, the premier wholesale, open-access fibre infrastructure and fibre to the business connectivity provider in South Africa, is set to see the business reach new heights.
